Indonesia ships industry started back to September 22, 1910 when the colonial Dutch Government established N.V Drogdok Maatschappij. After independence, on January 1, 1961, N.V Droogdok Maatschappij Soerabaja became a state-owned company named P.N Dok dan Perkapalan Surabaya. On January 8, 1976 the company has assumed a new legal status as PT. Dok dan Perkapalan Surabaya (Persero), acronym DPS. As a manufacturer of capital goods and provider of maintenance for industry, DPS is focused along the following lines: Ship Building and repair, Ship Conversion, Offshore Construction and Steel Structure Fabrication, as w ell as design and engineering.
 
Ship building: Specializing in commercial vessels up to 8,000 DWT (especially tankers, container ships. bulk carrier and barges, etc) and specialized ships up to 1,500 BRT (including tug boats, fishing vessels, ferries and others)

 
Ship Repair
Including dry-dock repairs, floating repairs, and running repairs of various types vessels up to 10,000 DWT, such as : passenger ships, tankers, cargo vessels, tug boats, supply vessels, ferry-boats, navy vessels, and others.
 
 
Ship conversion has become our core business since 1994. As a recent example, the company has successfully converted five cargo vessels (of over 7,500 DWT each) to bulk cement carriers complete with the latest loading and unloading technology.
