The second Tomohon International Flower Festival closes with success

This picturesque smaill mountain town of North Sulawesi has organized its flower festival with growing success since 2006. This year the competition has already attracted participants and many visitors from abroad.

Tomohon is a city in the Northernmost region of Sulawesi with about 100.000 habitants. It can be reached from the airport of Manado. The city lies between two mointains, the Lokon and the Mahawewu on an altitude of about 700-1000 meters above sea level. This climate suits well for the cultivation of flowering plants.

Tomohon, which itself is home to several indigenous flowers that cannot be found elsewhere and has its own botanic gardens has hosted the festival since 2006.  This year well over a hundred teams decorated their carriages for the carnival between 8-12 August from Asia and Europe. The event has attracted about 20.000 visitors.

 

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received a courtesy call from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to discuss several areas of bilateral cooperation including the supply of clean water in several regions of Indonesia. "I appreciate the cooperation in clean water supply. The project was completed in December 2019 and was carried out in 36 regions of 12 provinces in Indonesia," President Jokowi said in his address during the bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Viktor Orban at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta Thursday.
