27 , 2012

This picturesque smaill mountain town of North Sulawesi has organized its flower festival with growing success since 2006. This year the competition has already attracted participants and many visitors from abroad.

Tomohon is a city in the Northernmost region of Sulawesi with about 100.000 habitants. It can be reached from the airport of Manado. The city lies between two mointains, the Lokon and the Mahawewu on an altitude of about 700-1000 meters above sea level. This climate suits well for the cultivation of flowering plants.

Tomohon, which itself is home to several indigenous flowers that cannot be found elsewhere and has its own botanic gardens has hosted the festival since 2006.  This year well over a hundred teams decorated their carriages for the carnival between 8-12 August from Asia and Europe. The event has attracted about 20.000 visitors.
