Rio Haryanto undergoes test in Spain

Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s national racer of Surakarta (Solo), Central Java, Rio Haryanto, will undergo a test in Jerez, Spain, from February 28 to March 1, 2012 prior to joining the formula GP 2 car motor racing at in Sepang Circuit, Malaysia, from March 23 to 26, 2012.

Public Relations official of Rio Haryanto, Andi Mailangky said from Semarang Monday the test is for all the racers taking part in the first series of GP 2 in Malaysia.

Besides Rio Haryanto, he said, racer of the same team with Rio, Max Chilton of the UK (these two racers Rio and Max are grouped in the Marussia Carlin GP2 Team). "Rio is with the same with the British racer," he said.

He said the test in Spain covers all aspects including the technical aspect before the racers appeared in the first series circuit in Sepang. "So not only Rio who for the first time takes part in GP 2, but all the participants," he said.

He added that after undergoing the first test, Rio and Max will have the second test in also in Spain. "The test before taking part in GP 2 is done twice, and all in Spain," he said.

The GP 2 Series is a single seater motor racing championship one level below Formula 1. Eleven of the total of twelve GP 2 Series are supporting series of Formula 1.

He said Rio`s participation in GP 2 is the first time because before that he took part GP 3. Obviously this is only a learning process without setting too high targets for the Solo racer," he said.

Especially, he added, that half of the participants are those with experience in this course. "Some had already twice or three times took part in GP 2," he said.

But, he added, the race in the Sepang Circuit also has its favorable aspects, Rio has often taken part in this circuit compared to the other racers.

"Then there is the weather aspect in Malaysia which is almost similar to that in Indonesia, and is therefore also a favorable point for Rio," he said.
