ASEAN Foundation to Hold Dialog Forum to Mark Anniversary

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The ASEAN Foundation is holding a dialogue forum at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski here on January 20, to mark its 14th anniversary.

Among prominent figures expected to attend the forum were Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono, ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan, Foreign Minister Marty M. Natalegawa, and Health Minister Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, the ASEAN Foundation said in a statement here on Wednesday.

ASEAN Foundation Executive Director Makarim Wibisono will deliver welcoming remarks and Agung Laksono the forum`s opening specch.

A message by Surin Pitsuwan on the establishment of the ASEAN Community by 2015 will also be delivered. The chair of the ASEAN Foundation Board of Trustees and Permanent Representative of Brunei Darussalam to ASEAN Pengiran Hajjah Basmillah Pengiran Haji Abbas will be requested to introduce the guest speaker.

Minister Marty will lead the interactive lecture session during the forum.

The audience will have the opportunity to interact directly with the minister on the future of ASEAN cooperation towards a people-oriented community.

The audience may provide feedback or make comments or raise concerns or share ideas on the issue of ASEAN. It is an interactive session, thus, interaction between the minister and the audience was very much expected.

The ASEAN Foundation, on the occasion, would acknowledge its various project donours which include the governments of Japan, the People`s Republic of China, the Republic of the Philippines, Royal Philips Electronics, Inter-American Development Bank, Microsoft, and Hewlett-Packard.

In honor of past executive directors of the ASEAN Foundation, a recognition will also be presented to Wisber Loeis, Dr. Ruben C. Umaly, Apichai Sunchindah, and Dr. Filemon A. Uriarte, Jr.
