Asia′s telecommunication operators are scheduled to gather in Jakarta in early November to attend the Next Billion Conference, which is aimed at discussing developments in the telecommunications industry, a forum says.

Jakarta has been elected as host the event because of the fact that Indonesia is home to 180 million cellular phone users and also the second-largest Facebook social media site user worldwide with around 35 million registered users.

“Indonesia is a region with a vast and developing cellular service market. Having effective regulation will play significant roles that can boost the performance of the telecommunication sector,” Aerick Aas, the CEO of AXIS, one of the conference sponsors, said Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
