Jokowi receives Singaporean MPs, Japanese businesspersons

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received Singaporean members of parliament and a delegation of the Japan-Indonesia Association (JAPINDA) during separate meetings at the Merdeka Palace, here, on Wednesday.

The delegation of the Singaporean Parliament was headed by House Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin. Delegation members comprised Joan Pereira, Low Thia Khiang, Gan Thiam Poh, Henry Kwek, Saktiandi Supaat, and Murali Pillai.

Singapore′s Ambassador to Indonesia Anil Kumar Nayar and his deputy, Jonathan Han, accompanied the delegation at the meeting with Jokowi.

President Jokowi was accompanied by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L. P. Marsudi and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.

Jokowi later received a JAPINDA delegation, led by the association′s chairman, Fukuda Yasuo.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Marsudi, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, and Anung, accompanied Jokowi to receive the JAPINDA delegation.

The JAPINDA delegation constituted special adviser of the Japanese Prime Minister Izumi Hiroto, senior corporate adviser of JAPINDA Kuroda Naoki, Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Ishii Masafumi, and Vice President of JAPINDA Shiojiri Kojiro, among others.

Japanese CEOs joining the delegation included Director of Tokyo Gas Hirose Michiaki, Director of Taisei Corporation Yamauchi Takashi, President of Daihatsu Motor Okudaira Soichiro, Deputy Executive President of Toyota Tsusho Corporation Yanase Hideki, Vice Executive President of Sumitomo Forestry Sasabe Shigeru, and Senior Management Head of Shimizu Corporation Okamoto Tadashi.

Attendees at the hour-long meeting comprised Executive Management Head of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Sasai Masaaki, Eksekutif Chairman of Yachiyo Engineering Co Ariyama Satoshi, Corporate Adviser Chiyoda Corporation Nagasaka Katsuo, MUFG Bank adviser Kurauchi Muneo, and Executive Director of JAPINDA Yamazaki Norio.
