His Excellency Maruli Tua Sagala has visited the city of Nyíregyháza on the 20th of June. On this occasion the ambassador met with Dr. Ferenc Kovács, the mayor of city and in the evening the residents of Nyíregyháza were happy to enjoy a cultural performance from Indonesia.

The performance included Sundanese dances, the Merak and the Jaiponggan Ronggeng Beken, the sundanese degung gamelan which performed both classic degung pieces with intricate beautiful playing from the bamboo flute, and more modern modern pieces, called degung kawih.
The varied program also included dances from Bali (Joged Kenyung Manis), Central Java ( Tari Topeng Gagah), Jakarta (Ngarojeng) and North Sumatra (Tor-Tor Tandok).

In the last part of the show, the audience seemed to really enjoy the performance of Indonesian folk songs by three talented ladies, who all work for the Foreign Ministry of Indonesia, but incidentally also sing with great skill. The trio was accompanied by guitars, traditional indonesian drums and the arumba, the bamboo xylophone of Western Java.
