Visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia to Hungary

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his delegation visited Hungary on 6-8 March 2013 at the invitation of President János Áder. President Yudhoyono held bilateral talks with his counterpart President Áder and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The Indonesian President was accompanied by six cabinet ministers and a sizeable business delegation.

Hungarian President János Áder said that infrastructure-development and water management present good opportunities to strengthen ties between Hungary and Indonesia. At the press conference held after the talks between the two presidents, President Áder underlined that Hungary would be pleased to share water management expertise with Indonesia. The first step in this process could be the soon to be signed memorandum of understanding on providing Hungarian water purification plants to towns across Indonesia.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and five Hungarian ministers received the President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the Parliament Building on March 7. The two officials agreed that the two countries will tighten their relations within the fields of agriculture, water management and the pharmaceutical industry.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán informed the Indonesian President about the economic situation in Central Europe, emphasizing that our region may be of heightened interest for the dynamically developing Indonesia in the coming years.

The Prime Minister of Hungary and the President of Indonesia agreed that following the financial crisis and the restructuring of the world economy, new value-based social and economic systems must be established in the interests of sustainability.

The two officials also agreed to launch a joint higher education scholarship program. Within the framework of this program, more than 50 Indonesian students may soon begin their studies in Hungary.

Last August 17th, 2014 Indonesia Celebrate their Independence Day and closing the celebration with Diplomatic Reception on the next September 10th.
The 3rd Indonesian presidential election was held on 9 July 2014[2] and matched former general Prabowo Subianto against the governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo; incumbent president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was constitutionally barred from seeking a third term in office.[3][4] On 22 July the General Elections Commission announced a Widodo′s victory. He and his vice-president, Jusuf Kalla, are expected to be sworn-in on 20 October 2014, for a 5-year term.
